What you’ll do as Lead Architect

  • Together with other technology leaders, deliver and communicate an architectural vision and roadmap for the business that is understood and supported by the whole business and that provides clear, achievable principles and direction for the technology team to follow.
  • You’ll enjoy relationships with technologists and commercial stakeholders, and they will have confidence in your ability to facilitate us building the right solution well.
  • To be a technical subject matter expert for particular products and services and, via solution designs, be the design authority for new and existing services.
  • Communicate the business goals, constraints and risks to the delivery team members, so that they can build and operate the systems and services that support and deliver the business goals and address the constraints and risks that are present.
  • To communicate the key facts, risks and assumptions to enable the heads of function to understand and make informed decisions

Your key responsibilities will include…

Architectural Leadership

  • To keep up-to-date with emerging technologies and architectural approaches and promote alignment between technology and business strategy.
  • To maintain a good understanding and awareness of competitors’ products and services.
  • To form effective business relationships.
  • Collaborate with other architects within your and other areas of the business of the business to help define our architectural principles, vision, lifecycle and underlying framework.

Solution Architecture

  • Awareness of current architectural trends and developments within the market, particularly patterns and technologies being used within oddschecker.
  • Provide governance and technical leadership to ensure the products and services you are involved with are aligned with the design goals.
  • Work with business stakeholders to help identify business goals and align IT strategy.
  • To develop the tribe’s technology road map and to gain commitment for architecture initiatives.
  • To maintain an in-depth knowledge of the tribe’s technologies and architecture and a good understanding of the wider organization's technologies and architectures.
  • Deliver solution designs and impact assessments to support the delivery of business goals, and help squads to bring these products to life.
  • Identify architectural risks and propose alternatives and solutions.

Data Architecture

  • Collaborate with other teams at oddschecker to promote the interoperability of data collected across products and technology teams.

We need someone who is…

  • Proven experience in architecture and design, ideally of highly-available, highly-resilient systems
  • Experience in working with cloud environments/platforms (ideally GCP)
  • Able to present and communicate complex architectural issues clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including facilitation, negotiation, collaboration and influencing
  • Understanding of solution trade-offs such as cost, scope, timescale, and balance between long-term strategic and short-term pragmatic considerations
  • A background in development with a comprehensive understanding of a range of technology stacks and platforms
